A Moment of Sound That Became a Painting

A Moment of Sound That Became a Painting

What I’ve Been Working On Lately

Lately, I’ve been finishing a painting that feels very personal to me.

Last summer, in 2025, I visited Barcelona to see a friend who was doing an internship there. One evening, we ended up in a jazz club called Harlem Jazz Club. The atmosphere was intense but intimate at the same time dim lights, close audience, and musicians completely immersed in their music.

There was one guitarist who really caught my attention. He played with so much passion. Sometimes he would strike the strings just a few times, then close his eyes, almost as if he was listening inwardly before continuing. You could hear and feel the emotion in every sound he made.

I filmed a short moment of his performance without really knowing why at the time. It just felt like something I wanted to remember.

From a Video to a Painting

When I was back home, I watched that video again. This time, it hit me differently. Without the noise of the city and the energy of the club around me, I started to notice details I hadn’t seen before, the movement of his hands, the tension in his posture, the rhythm in his body.

That was the moment I felt the urge to paint it.

I didn’t want to create a realistic portrait. Instead, I wanted to translate the feeling of that moment into paint. The sound became lines, the rhythm turned into gestures, and the atmosphere of the club slowly transformed into layers of color and texture.

Over time, the painting developed into something that felt less like a memory and more like an interpretation of emotion.

Finishing the Piece

Now, the painting is finally finished.

Working on it made me realize how much inspiration can come from unexpected places. Sometimes it’s not an image, but a sound, a movement, or a fleeting moment that stays with you long after it has passed.

This piece feels like a quiet tribute to that night in Barcelona and to the musician who unknowingly became part of my creative process.

Where This Leads Next

Finishing this painting also opened new ideas for future work. It made me more aware of how music, movement, and atmosphere can influence the way I paint.

Right now, I’m curious to explore more works inspired by sound and emotion rather than purely visual references. It feels like the beginning of a new direction in my work.
